Main Purpose: Puma Energy Bitumen has a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead the team at our Altona Bitumen Facility which is a Puma owned and operated manufacturing facility. In this role you will be responsible for delivering safe and efficient operations for the facility, including but not limited to: managing supply and manufacturing operations; balancing maintenance and capital works whilst meeting operational and customer requirements; controlling operational expenditure; and leading the implementation of operational improvements. This role will suit someone looking to further their leadership and commercial skills in a dynamic, challenging operational environment. Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage production schedules aligned to forecasting and facility capacity, adjusting plans and resources to meet evolving customer requirements. Oversee day-to-day facility operations, optimise throughput, monitor stock levels and supply chains, and resolve disruptions to ensure reliable service. Champion a safety-first culture by implementing HSSE protocols, leading behavioural safety initiatives and driving compliance with internal systems, Australian Standards and environmental regulations. Supervise equipment and maintenance processes, ensuring integrity of hydrocarbon process systems and adherence to safety and environmental standards. Prepare, manage and monitor capital and operating budgets, track expenditures, identify cost-saving initiatives and deliver timely financial reports to stakeholders. Author scopes of work, plan, execute and close projects on time, within budget and according to defined objectives and quality standards. Implement and oversee quality management systems, enforce product specifications and production controls, and support root-cause analyses to prevent recurrence of issues. Maintain strong relationships with customers, internal teams and third-party operators, ensuring clear communication and contractual performance. Our ideal candidate is: Tertiary educated in an Engineering related discipline or hold Trade Certification; experienced working in hazardous industrial plants, manufacturing or petroleum industry in a similar role, with minimum of 5 years’ experience an operator who ensures health and safety is embedded into every decision, not just talked about a resilient, confident leader who remains solution-orientated, and knows how to manage themselves particularly in times of stress a driven and pro-active individual, with high personal energy and instigates action effective in communicating with a variety of stakeholders, and demonstrates strong commercial acumen; analytical and can demonstrate robust problem-solving skills particularly relating to processing equipment; a leader who motivates and works collaboratively with others; and able to be on call 24/7 and to travel nationally for role coverage if required.
