National Jet Express is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quarantine and Cargo Coordinator to join our Ground Operations team. This role is vital to ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of cargo and personnel, with a strong focus on quarantine regulations and Dangerous Goods (DG) handling. You'll coordinate daily cargo operations, oversee quarantine compliance for mobilisations to Barrow Island, and act as NJE’s Dangerous Goods Specialist. Key Duties & Responsibilities Actively promote and participate in safety initiatives, contributing to a Zero Harm and incident/injury-free work environment. Demonstrate and uphold NJE’s core values in all interactions and operations. Act as the company delegate for all Dangerous Goods (DG) matters, including Operator Approval and representation on the DG Committee. Serving as the designated Dangerous Goods Specialist. Ensure all cargo, including special freight and Dangerous Goods, complies with relevant regulations, specifications, and carriage procedures. Management and coordination of contracted Security Staff within the quarantine lounge. Compile and maintain accurate cargo documentation, including manifests, NOTOCs, and flight records. Conduct inspections of cargo, personnel, personal effects, equipment, and materials prior to mobilisation to Barrow Island, ensuring compliance with quarantine protocols. Oversee and verify the application of pest treatments in accordance with prescribed specifications. Maintain audit-compliant systems and ensure data accuracy for traceability and compliance purposes. Provide training and guidance to team members on quarantine and cargo procedures. Manage and coordinate Quarantine and Cargo team staffing, ensuring appropriate coverage through effective roster planning and recruitment. Act as direct liaison with Chevron Quarantine and represent NJE in all related matters. Updating and oversight of all relevant department manuals. Resolving any freight delivery issues such as delays or mishandlings. Lead the development of strategic initiatives to improve service delivery, streamline operations, and drive cost savings. Perform other duties as required to support team operations and organisational objectives. Skills and Experience The ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) (Essential) A Dangerous Goods acceptance certificate or the ability to obtain one (Essential) Strong knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations, cargo handling procedures, and quarantine requirements. (Desirable) A sufficient level of fitness to handle cargo and climb into the aircraft hold for inspections (Essential) A forklift license or the ability to obtain one (Desirable) Intermediate typing and computer skills (Essential) Previous experience in a quarantine, logistics, and/or airport environment (Desirable) High attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety and compliance. Excellent organisational and documentation skills. Effective communication and team coordination capabilities. Training or supervisory experience is advantageous.
