Gets excited about a role that uses your experience to give others hope to also recover from their suicidal crisis. Happy to work penalty rate Saturday, Sunday and evening shifts (typically 11:30am – 8pm, Fri - Mon). The Community Mental Health Service is seeking a passionate Peer Support Worker who is naturally compassionate and empathetic. This role will see you working in a Trauma-Informed, Recovery Oriented, Strengths-Based way while getting involved in research and evaluation opportunities to inform how this service develops over the coming decades. What You'll be DoingAs a Peer Support Worker you will provide peer supported transfer of care in the recovery of consumers who are transitioning from an acute inpatient unit to the community setting. This role is responsible for providing support that facilitates a consumer recovery journey, assists individuals in navigating the mental health system, accessing external supports and provides opportunity for peer learning. Provide recovery orientated, evidence based peer support interventions to mental health consumers within a multidisciplinary team framework. This position also supports clinical staff in the provision of recovery orientated and consumer driven clinical practice by providing consultation in relation to the experience of living with a mental health disorder. The Peer Worker is also responsible for undertaking designated administrative tasks necessary to support service delivery. Where You'll Be WorkingSWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney. These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.
