This role is a part of our Core Banking Product Crew within Retail Technology. We are responsible for leading our retail end-to-end digital-first customer experience strategy, driving innovation, improving customer engagement and creating new business opportunities through partnerships, ventures and the Group’s digital ecosystem. About the role and team We are looking to hire a Staff Platform Engineer to develop and deliver the vision for our Public Cloud Modernisation transformation within the Core Banking Product Crew in Retail Technology. This high availability, modernised platform powers many critical elements of the customer experience for our products. We’re interested in hearing from people who Is an expert at the Full Cycle model, where engineers are involved in Design, Build, Change, and Run Have a passion for designing, developing, deploying and running highquality modern solutions. Contributes to a culture where quality, inclusiveness and excellence are championed. Lead efforts to embed security best practices across infrastructure and deployment workflows. Act as a technical mentor and thought leader for platform engineering standards and architecture. Perform security assessments across platform components. Have a natural drive to educate, communicate and positively influence various stakeholder groups including high level executives. Tech Skills We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team; AWS Services : In depth knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, Step function, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM, VPC, Route 53, Cloudwatch, EKS Kafka : Experience with Kafka (self-managed or Confluent), including schema management and security (SSL, ACLs). Container technologies : Deep knowledge of Linux systems and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes a plus). Scripting: Experience in automation and Scripting (Bash, Python). IaC Tools: Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code tools like AWS CloudFormation, Version Control: Proficiency with version control systems like Github, Github Actions Monitoring & Observability: Expertise in tools like Grafana, Prometheus Engineering Tooling: Artifactory, Synk, Docker Working with us: Whether you’re passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career with CommBank is for you.
