Your New Company Work for an established and trusted Civil & Drainage business operating in the Tier 1 major government infrastructure sector, including the Level Crossing Removal Program and Major Road Projects Victoria. With an established track record delivering complex civil works, they pride themselves on safety, quality and collaborative delivery. Your New Role As Senior Project Engineer, you’ll take charge of technically challenging projects from ground-breaking to handover. You’ll mentor a small team of engineers, drive planning and execution, manage budgets and programs, and uphold our high standards for safety, quality and compliance. Your Key Responsibilities • Lead Project Delivery: Own the delivery of civil construction projects, ensuring scope, schedule and budget targets are met. • Technical Oversight: Review designs, lead constructability reviews and ensure works adhere to specifications and industry best practice. • Team Leadership: Coach and guide project engineers and field personnel, fostering a safety-first, high-performance culture. • Budget & Cost Control: Contribute to cost estimations, track project forecasts, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality. • Program Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, monitor progress, and drive timely milestone achievement. • Risk & Change Management: Identify potential issues early, put in place mitigation plans, and manage scope changes with clear impact analysis. • Quality Assurance: Implement and audit quality processes—inspections, testing regimes and documentation—to deliver defect-free outcomes. • Safety & Compliance: Champion our safety protocols on site, ensuring all activities comply with Worksafe regulations and environmental requirements. • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with clients, statutory authorities, contractors and subcontractors, providing clear, proactive communication. • Project Close-Out: Lead final handover, prepare as-built documentation and conduct lessons-learned workshops to refine future delivery. What you need to succeed • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent); • Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience managing civil infrastructure or drainage projects, ideally within government-funded major works • Proven ability to lead small teams and influence senior stakeholders • Deep technical knowledge of civil construction methods, Vicroads specifications and relevant software (MS Project and MS Suite, Bluebeam, Civil 3D etc.) • Strong financial acumen: budget preparation, cost tracking and financial reporting • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach • Solid understanding of safety, environmental and contractual obligations in civil works What you'll get in return • Work on landmark infrastructure projects that shape Victoria’s future • Supportive culture where your technical leadership and ideas make a real impact • Competitive salary package with opportunities for professional development • Flexible work arrangements and a commitment to work-life balance
