Who we are The Biosecurity Strategy and Reform Division 's focus is on protecting Australia from increasing biosecurity risks to agriculture, the environment and our way of life by continuously improving the national biosecurity system, providing quality, evidence-based policy advice and reform agendas to the department executive, Minister and Australian Government and working closely with our internal and external stakeholders. The division supports the operation and improvement of the biosecurity system by providing innovation, data, reporting, policy reform, coordination, intelligence, risk modelling and strategic advice. The Biosecurity Sustainable Funding Branch within the Biosecurity Strategy and Reform Division supports this agenda by: developing strategic priorities for the national biosecurity system and ensuring biosecurity priorities are reflected in broader departmental and government strategies providing advice on reform and investment priorities to achieve strategic priorities providing advice on science, research and innovation opportunities delivery of end-to-end research and innovation projects and agile pilots to deliver outcomes aligned with the strategic priorities developing and implementing sustainable funding reforms and providing strategic advice on Commonwealth biosecurity funding undertaking secretariat functions for various governance groups. Broad work streams include biosecurity reform, strategic policy and engagement, research and innovation, and biosecurity funding and financing however, the work of the branch continues to evolve in response to a range of contemporary biosecurity issues. The key duties of the position include The Job There are several vacancies within the Biosecurity Sustainable Funding Branch with potential to expand to other Branches within the department. These roles contribute to different branch priorities. As a Senior Policy Officer , your job may include but not limited to: lead or contribute to high-quality policy development, briefings, and reports, including on strategic priorities for the biosecurity system consider, and advise on, topics relevant to resourcing the biosecurity system including funding, cost-sharing, cost-recovery, and investment priorities build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships. As a Senior Project Officer , your job may include but not limited to: manage projects, contracts, and procurement processes prepare and maintain project documentation for reporting, monitoring, and evaluation purposes support biosecurity research and innovation initiatives provide secretariat support to governance groups build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
