At ASIC, the Senior Manager Government Relations plays a critical role in supporting the Head of Government Relations to deliver strategic, evidence-based insights and engagement with Ministers and Parliament. Working across ASIC's regulatory and operational teams, you will lead the development of high-quality materials, manage sensitive issues, and strengthen ASIC's relationships with key government stakeholders to build trust and confidence in ASIC's work. All locations considered $165,011 - $195,951 Permanent Applications close at 11:59pm ADST/AEST, Wednesday 30 July 2025 The team The Government Relations team performs a priority function that is integral to ASIC's strategic engagement with Ministerial and Parliamentary stakeholders. The purpose of the Government Relations function is to build trust and confidence through enhanced Ministerial and Parliamentary engagement that aligns ASIC's strategic priorities with the Statement of Expectations. The role As the Senior Manager, Government Relations you will: Lead the development of all ministerial and parliamentary briefings, ensuring evidence-based and risk-aware content, ideally drawing from your experience and knowledge in financial services. Lead, manage and support a high-performing team, providing direction, guidance and development opportunities to ensure delivery of team and organisational priorities. Work with regulatory and enforcement experts to develop clear, impactful messaging and content for government and public audiences. Act as the conduit across ASIC to ensure coordination, insight, and quality assurance of content for parliamentary and ministerial engagement. Support the Head of Government Relations in managing major issues and reputational risks with key government stakeholders. Contribute to the uplift of the Government Relations function through best practice initiatives and leadership across the team. About you You will have a degree in communications, journalism, public relations, law or economics, coupled with at least 10 years of relevant experience. You bring a deep understanding of financial services, parliamentary processes and public sector sensitivities, ideally gained in a departmental, regulatory or corporate environment. You possess knowledge of the Australian Public Service and Australian Parliament. You also have demonstrated expertise working with subject matter experts to translate complex financial services and regulatory content into accessible, compelling communications across a range of platforms. As a strategic thinker and strong communicator, you thrive in fast-paced environments, balancing multiple priorities and making sound judgments under pressure. You are a natural collaborator, adept at building trusted relationships across senior executives, technical experts, and external stakeholders. Your leadership style is proactive and supportive, contributing to team capability while driving outcomes that matter.
