The Legal and Audit Division is a specialist in-house practice that supports lawful implementation of the DVA's objectives by providing legal advice, litigation and dispute resolution services, legal training and legislation services. Lawyers at all levels work on a wide range of complex and interesting legal matters with friendly and high performing colleagues. You will be supported to further develop a highly sought after and transferable skill set. The Legal and Audit Division is seeking suitably qualified and experienced Senior Legal Officer (EL1) for the legislative drafting team. We are looking for candidates with strong technical legal skills, who are great communicators, can manage competing priorities, enjoy working collaboratively, think flexibly and have a positive attitude. In addition to your strong legal skills and experience in the relevant area, you need to have strong and efficient administration, liaison and communication skills, and the ability to lead, manage and mentor others in the delivery of the work. The key duties of the position include Build and maintain strong client relationships with business areas while promoting the Legal & Audit Division as the DVA's trusted advisor. Actively develop your professional legal expertise, through participation in development, training and study opportunities, and meet Continuing Legal Education requirements and other expectations. Supervise and support junior staff, including by- setting clear direction of work priorities and monitoring workflow developing legislative drafting skills and other relevant knowledge of the junior staff. Support leadership of the section and the branch, including through promoting a positive working environment, and contributing to corporate leadership activities.
