Responsibilities include: Leading a high-performing team of ~10 engineers within the Editing Core group, including senior and staff engineers. Collaborating with product and technical leads to improve architecture of the Canva Editor. Owning and executing large, cross-functional engineering initiatives. Scaling team capabilities through coaching and mentoring. Shaping the future of collaborative editing, offline functionality, and performance. Aligning technical goals with company strategy and influencing roadmap planning. Ideal candidate: Has led impactful technical teams and coached engineers at various career stages. Possesses deep frontend or architectural experience with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making bold technical decisions. Partners well with product managers and tech leads. Champions collaboration and team success. Thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to shape foundational systems. About the team: The Editing Core team builds foundational components of the Canva Editor, including document schema, real-time collaboration, and offline editing, enabling Canva’s innovation.
