Job Title Research Officer Job Description An excellent opportunity is available for a Research Officer to join the Structural Biology Division at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute . About the Position The Glukhova lab is interested in understanding the structural mechanisms of Wnt signalling, with a particular focus on membrane protein complexes and the application of this knowledge for drug discovery. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist with expertise in mass spectrometry and proteomics, with a particular focus on crosslinking mass spectrometry. The postdoctoral scientist will be responsible for driving the project aimed at understanding the organisation of membrane signalling complexes in cells and following their isolation for structural characterisation. This position will join a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative environment in their effort to understand the molecular events underpinning signal initiation during Wnt signalling and how these processes are altered in colorectal and pancreatic cancers. Selection Criteria Essential Knowledge and Skills: PhD or equivalent in mass spectrometry (MS) and laboratory experience Ability to lead mass spectrometry-based projects with minimal oversight Knowledge and hands-on experience in crosslinking mass spectrometry including in-cell and purified proteins Working knowledge of MS instrumentation and operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting (Experience with Thermo Fisher Scientific Orbitrap machines including Eclipse and Astral is preferred) Proficient in advanced statistical methods and design and analysis of MS experiments Ability to analyse and troubleshoot difficult samples Demonstrated ability and potential for excellence and productivity in research Research experience that has resulted in publications, conference papers or reports Desirable Knowledge and Skills: Experience with expression and purification of membrane proteins Experience working with different crosslinker types MS-informed protein structure modelling Mammalian and/or insect cell culture Expertise in running Proteomics and Phosphoproteomics experiments Personal Qualities: Ability to drive a research project independently Excellent communication skills and the ability to work constructively within a team environment Excellent attention to detail, ensuring that data, new methods and theories are accurate, of high-quality and accessible to other researchers Ability to manage time effectively and be reliable and approachable Terms of Appointment This is a full-time position available for two years. Salary is Academic Level A6–A8 $104,071-$111,707, depending on qualifications and experience . Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
