About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse Trainer and Assessor to design, deliver, and evaluate clinical care training and competency assessments for aged care workers across MiCare residential and home care services. The position will focus on ensuring that all staff meet the clinical and care competencies required under the Aged Care Act 2024 and Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include: Deliver mandatory and role-specific training to care staff using blended learning methods (face-to-face, online, simulation). Develop and update training materials in alignment with current clinical guidelines and legislative requirements. Conduct initial competency assessments for personal care workers, enrolled nurses and registered nurses, and care workers. Identify gaps in competency and provide remedial support or additional training as required. Ensure training programs meet the requirements of the Aged Care Act 2024, Code of Conduct, and relevant care standards. Maintain accurate training records and assessment outcomes to demonstrate staff competence during audits. Provide clinical advice to support the implementation of best-practice care. Qualifications Registered Nurse (AHPRA Registration – unrestricted) Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) Current Driver’s Licence Skills & Experience Long standing experience working within residential aged care or home care settings Experience in adult learning, staff education, or clinical assessment Strong knowledge of the Aged Care Act 2024 and Strengthened Standards Strong clinical nursing skills with up-to-date knowledge in aged care practice areas (e.g. wound care, medication management, restrictive practices, palliative care). Confident in applying clinical judgement to determine capability and performance. Competent in using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital training platforms. Works effectively within interdisciplinary teams, including managers, clinicians and quality teams Why work for MiCare?
