About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system. About the Team The Chief Clinical Advisor Division (CCAD) of the Commission protects and enhances the safety, health and well-being and quality of life of people receiving aged care by driving a higher standard of clinical rigour across the aged care sector. The Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices Unit (RPU) is a unit within the CCAD. The RPU aims to prevent and minimise the inappropriate use of restrictive practices in aged care by enhancing individualised behaviour support and promoting quality of life for every consumer through supporting the Commission's regulatory functions and aged care provider understanding of behaviour support, restrictive practices and associated legislative responsibilities. About the Role The RPU Registered Clinician is responsible for providing clinical expertise and advice to support the regulatory functions of the Commission in relation to aged care including best practice and legislative requirements for person-centred behaviour support and restrictive practices. The position will involve assisting aged care providers to deliver the best possible outcomes for consumers by promoting and supporting evidence-based clinical practice and providing relevant information and guidance to external stakeholders. The position will also involve assisting with the development and delivery of presentations, webinars and training regarding behaviour support and restrictive practices. This role will require travel. The key duties of the position include Reporting to the Assistant Director, Clinical Advisor, as a Registered Clinician in the RPU you will: Support the operations and logistical requirements of the RPU, including maintaining meeting schedules, agendas, action management, minutes and other documentation. Provide written and verbal clinical advice regarding behaviour support and restrictive practices in an aged care context under the support and direction of the Assistant Director, Clinical Advisor. Support the Assistant Director, Clinical Advisor to triage and manage referrals to the RPU inbox. Use judgement to monitor, triage and escalate identified risk and clinical issues in a timely way. Contribute to resource development regarding behaviour support and restrictive practices to drive a higher standard of clinical rigour across the aged care sector and support the functions of the Commission. Work as a member of a small team to support the successful delivery of national work programs in relation to behaviour support and restrictive practices, including project reporting functions. Ensure relevant records and information are kept up to date such as excel databases and SharePoint content. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain positive working relationships to respond to enquiries and education requests in a positive and timely manner. Assist with the development and delivery of a range of presentations, webinars and training.
