The key duties of the position include The Role Land & Integrated Force Division is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Program Management Office (PMO) team. As an APS6 Project Manager within the PMO, you will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex project management work in support of projects within the Division. You will work to continue the development and maturity of the Division's PMO practices and processes in compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. We are seeking applications from high-performing individuals who have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will work independently and as part of a small team, exercising both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. You will provide detailed project management technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. Broadly, the responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to): Assist with building project management knowledge across the division through establishing processes and providing training as applicable; Assist with a range of project activities and coordination of project inputs in accordance with organisational practices, methods and standards as required; Provide guidance on project management technical and administrative activities, procedures and practices in line with relevant legislative and local policy requirements; Establish best practice and look for continuous improvement opportunities; Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve project outcomes; Assist with monitoring and reporting of divisional project performance (scope, schedule, budget, risk and resources), preparing briefs and submissions for senior management and governance forums; Ability to understand, analyse, identify solutions to complex project management queries, and identify matters that require escalation. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. The team is responsible for understanding the highest priority S&T problems and challenges across the relevant Defence stakeholders and developing an integrated, balanced set of S&T programs to address these challenges.
