We are currently seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Critical Infrastructure (CI) team in Melbourne and lead our expansion into new and developing markets. Our CI team works on a variety of projects, including onsite inspection of heavy machinery, design reviews of mining and port machinery, and engineering design for heavy industry and maritime partners. The Principal Mechanical Engineer will act as a work-winning consultant, Project Manager, and lead project teams to deliver successful projects while maintaining our brand reputation for superior quality technical work with a strong customer focus. They will undertake technical tasks of advanced scope and complexity and collaborate with other business leaders to share knowledge and advance the business. Key Responsibilities Act as a work-winning champion of new or existing clients, including key account management, developing bids and proposals, and liaising with BMT Program Managers. Perform professional technical work involving considerable independence, originality, ingenuity, and judgement. Serve as a technical specialist in applied advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area. Provide technical advice to management and business units and direct or advise on use of equipment or materials. Supervise and review the work of engineers, designers/drafters, and technicians. Contribute to thought leadership through your work by authoring papers and presenting at events, seminars, and conferences. About You Experience with machinery such as stackers, reclaimers, excavators, minerals processing plants, mobile mining machinery, underground mining, draglines, belt conveyors, rolling stock, ship loaders, port machinery, and cranes. Thorough knowledge of local and international design codes for the above equipment (e.g., AS4324.1, AS1418, ISO 5049, FEMII). Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. Minimum 15 years’ experience post-graduation. Relevant registration with a recognized engineering/environmental body, preferably CPEng, RPEQ, and RPEV (or ability to obtain). Demonstrated experience in sales and business development. Existing customer network or proven ability to develop key customer relationships. Experience working within the engineering or resources sector. Unrestricted working rights in Australia. Why Work with Us?
