The key duties of the position include What you will do as the Principal Economist Provide expert professional economic support (economic advice, carry out both qualitative and quantitative analysis, guidance and research) to the agency through merger reviews, competition and consumer investigations, competition exemption applications, digital platform matters, market studies and issues relating to the regulation of services. Prepare written papers, reports, presentations, speeches and submissions on economic issues for presentation within the ACCC, to the Commission and external parties. Liaise with staff, Commissioners and external advisers on economic issues and projects as required. Work collaboratively with teams to employ economic frameworks to assist in investigations and enforcement of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation.
