About the role Reporting into the Group Manager Victorian Planning & Connections, the Manager, Victorian System Planning, leads a team of approximately ten, delivering high-quality network planning insights and technical advisory services for the Victorian declared transmission system. The role identifies necessary investments to support the power system’s transition to net zero emissions and enable the connection of new generation and loads, working closely with VicGrid, other AEMO divisions, network service providers, industry, and government stakeholders. This pivotal role shapes AEMO’s contribution to providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy while enabling the energy transition for all Australians. The Manager fosters an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team, leading with integrity, compassion, and authenticity. This position can be based out of our Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide offices noting that at least quarterly travel will be required if you do not reside in Melbourne. Applications close Monday 1 September 2025 – 5pm. What you will be doing Deliver Victorian Transmission Network Service Provider (TNSP) planning obligations, including the Victorian Annual Planning Report (VAPR), Annual Fault Level Review (AFLR), system security planning, and network augmentation needs. Provide strategic and technical advice on Victorian transmission planning to internal teams and key external stakeholders. Lead joint planning with VicGrid distributors, other TNSPs, and AEMO’s Integrated System Plan team. Oversee technical services for Victorian connections and advisory support for VicGrid and the Victorian Government. Build and lead a high-performing, inclusive team while managing budgets, risks, compliance, and stakeholder relationships. The Manager will champion engineering and infrastructure planning to shape Victoria’s electricity network for net zero - consolidating diverse stakeholder plans into a single, published transmission plan while fostering strong industry relationships. Your experience will come from the energy sector, electricity infrastructure and/or transport with electrical engineering. What you will bring to the role Education Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (for example, engineering) Experience & Knowledge Significant experience in power system planning, with strong understanding of technical issues in electricity system planning and operations. Proven leadership of geographically dispersed teams through transformation, delivering high-quality outcomes and reporting to senior management. Strong track record in project planning, reporting, and delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards. Advanced consulting and communication skills, with ability to engage diverse stakeholders and negotiate complex technical matters. In-depth knowledge of the political, legal, and regulatory environment of the energy industry.
