About the role We’re seeking a Maintenance Inspector to ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of maintenance works across our Victorian road network. This hands-on role sits within our Maintenance business unit and supports our Commercial section, reporting to the Maintenance Manager (Vic). You’ll inspect the performance of our core maintenance provider and contractors, applying a risk-informed lens to assure service delivery meets the required standards across a range of codes, manuals and technical guidelines. You’ll manage customer-related issues and help create fast, responsive and sensitive resolutions with our community and communications teams. As our Maintenance Inspector, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our infrastructure safe and performing as intended for both our customers and workers. It’s purposeful, dynamic and practical work. Day-to-day, you will: Develop assurance plans for works delivered by IR&M contractors and sub-contractors Assess and report non-conformance with maintenance standards and recommend repairs Monitor Maximo work order system to ensure accurate defect reporting and follow-up Deliver technical assurance across maintenance, ITS and project activities Identify asset risks and recommend mitigation actions through inspections and analysis Monitor graffiti, landscaping, potholes and other issues affecting asset aesthetics and safety Apply Road AI and video inspections to identify and manage asset defects Review work permits and contractor compliance with guidelines and scope Analyse technical drawings/specifications and recommend repairs aligned to design Provide condition updates and insights to Maintenance and Asset Strategy teams This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: 3 years of maintenance or engineering management in a complex environment A degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management or a trade qualification, with 5 years’ experience in utilities or roads Strong understanding of HSE and risk principles in a contracted infrastructure setting Effective stakeholder engagement and influence across diverse teams and contractors Confident communicator with sound written, verbal and reporting skills Practical knowledge of civil, mechanical, or electrical assets Engineering postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
