The key duties of the position include The Role The Directorate of Honours and Awards (DH&A) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the APS 6 Policy Manager vacancy. Each role within DH&A plays an important part in recognising the dedicated service and achievements of veteran and current serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Australian Public Service (APS) employees. The Policy Manager leads a team responsible for providing detailed written advice to internal and external stakeholders, interpreting and applying legislation and guidelines on a broad range honours and awards policy matters. You will take initiative to investigate and recommend solutions for minor to complex issues and enquiries. You will build strong stakeholder relationships, taking a collegiate and collaborate approach to drafting new/amendments to policy. This role supports the management team by contributing to Honours and Awards policy development through long term planning and liaison with stakeholders. About our Team DH&A provides medallic recognition to current serving and former ADF members, and APS Defence employees. Awards are issued from the Imperial and Australian honours and awards systems from World War One to the current day. Additionally, the Directorate provides recognition to APS Defence employees to acknowledge their personal and professional achievements. These include the Public Service Medal, Defence Commendation Scheme and the Australia Day Achievement Award.
