The role – Deputy Head of Secondary – Learning CREST Education is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to join Hillcrest Christian College teaching team as Deputy Head of Secondary – Learning . This full-time, fixed-term position will commence on 6 October 2025 to 13 December 2027. This pivotal role will be central to shaping the academic life of the school, leading curriculum design, assessment strategy, and teaching and learning initiatives across Years 7-10. This role will see you supporting the Head of Secondary in both the strategic and operational leadership of the school, with a strong focus on enhancing student learning outcomes. Holding the learning and curriculum portfolio, you will collaborate closely with key leaders to foster a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement. As part of the remuneration package, this role attracts a POR allowance. FTE component: Deputy Head duties – 0.6 Teaching component duties – 0.4 Key areas of responsibilities: Lead the delivery of a broad, engaging and challenging Curriculum Ensure compliance of the curriculum, regularly and collaboratively reviewing learning and teaching practices using data analysis and informed approaches to support positive academic outcomes. Oversee assessment and reporting processes to ensure they inform teaching and support student progress. Implement effective approaches and systems that will maximise student leadership development opportunities Oversee the development and continuous improvement of the Campus curriculum Responsibility for providing pedagogical leadership The successful candidate will have: Significant teaching and leadership experience in a secondary school context (usually at least 5-7 years) A deep understanding of contemporary curriculum design, assessment principles, and evidence-based pedagogy Familiarity with assessment strategies and tracking student progress A track record of achieving strong student outcomes through effective teaching practice Evidence of successful management of staff, including mentoring and performance management Proven ability to inspire, lead and support staff in professional learning and instructional improvement. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships Strategic thinking and strong organisational skills.
