The role has a broad responsibility that includes coordinating the submission of applications to externally-funded competitive research grant schemes, supports and coordinates internal EoI processes, and administers internal research funding schemes. Key Accountabilities Provide expert advice and guidance to researchers on relevant competitive funding schemes (major, short notice and/or non-traditional) including timeframes, budgets, eligibility requirements and clarity of responsibilities, and promote and encourage research participation across the University. In direct consultation with researchers and Grant Development managers, this role will coordinate, compile, review, and aid in delivering competitive and high-quality grant applications for external, competitively assessed funding schemes. Coordinate the compliance and eligibility check process for external grant submission, including regularly updating the compliance and eligibility check lists according to updates/changes to various external funding schemes. In conjunction with Director, Grants and Awards, coordinate the University’s management of internal research funding schemes, including coordination of internal assessment panels; updates to funding guidelines and coordination of documentation. Contribute to regular/ongoing process improvement to ensure efficient and effective coordination of both internal and external research funding schemes. Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations. Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification. About Us The Grant Development Team provides leadership and support for researchers and their collaborators in their planning, development, and submission of competitive research funding applications. Led by 4 Grant Development Managers and supported by 6 Grant Development Advisors and 2 Grant Development Administrators, this team is the hub of competitive research funding expertise at Macquarie University. Selection Criteria Knowledge of competitive research funding schemes, including a demonstrated ability to understand and interpret funding guidelines, eligibility criteria, and funding requirements of external agencies. Demonstrated ability to listen and assess the needs of clients, and experience in providing constructive strategic feedback, advice, and recommendations to a diverse range of stakeholders in a research context. Demonstrated high level of initiative and organisational skills including the ability to coordinate and constructively contribute to process improvement initiatives. Extensive administrative experience in a research environment, including working with research systems, collecting, and analysing data, contributing to the drafting of internal reports and administration of internal funding including grant review panels. Demonstrated experience engaging in process improvements with a view to ensure best outcomes for stakeholders.
