Using advanced modelling tools and emerging technologies, you’ll contribute to projects that range from shaping flood resilience strategies to advising on sustainable urban development. Who are we looking for? We’re looking for a Flood Modeller with a passion for innovation and sustainable outcomes to join our Surface Water and Catchments Group in Melbourne and help us deliver exciting and impactful projects. Key to your role is the development of flood models, including both hydrology and hydraulics, for all phases of projects; from mapping and planning studies, impact assessments and mitigation studies, through to detailed design of infrastructure and water specific projects. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Developing flood models, management plans, impact assessment and flood mitigation strategies, and reporting to support water-related projects such as major infrastructure, environmental flows, dams, fish passage, mining, energy, development projects and assist with development and implementation of appropriate planning and development controls. Working with surface water specialists sometimes as part of diverse multidisciplinary teams to work with and deliver projects for both internal and external clients technical development, including the identification of opportunities and contributing to the collaborative enhancement of the efficiency, reliability and capacity of the team Managing or contributing to multidisciplinary projects, maintaining strong client relationships, coordinating with stakeholders to deliver project outcomes. Contributing to business development and writing proposals, identifying opportunities to secure new projects. What you will bring to the team Bachelor of Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent. Ideally, 5 years of experience in a similar role in a consulting environment within Australia. Strong skills in flood modelling and mapping, ideally with proficiency in hydraulic packages (TUFLOW, HECRAS knowledge of ICM, Mike, DRAINS, EPA-SWMM beneficial), hydrologic software (RORB with knowledge of URBS, WBNM, HEC-HMS beneficial) GIS packages (QGIS, Arc), and well-developed skills with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, OneNote, Loop, Power BI etc) Although not required some knowledge of CFD analysis, terrain modelling and design software such as 12D and python coding would be beneficial Strong client relationship skills and project management skills A well-developed understanding of relevant state and federal legislation and guidelines, including Australian Rainfall and Runoff.
