The Energy Performance and Security Division is part of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. The Division aims to have a positive impact on Australian households, businesses and communities, and work at the forefront of energy policy, supporting Australia's transition to Net Zero and ensuring Australia has access to reliable, affordable and secure energy. The Energy Performance Governance and Coordination team provides enabling services to support the work of the division and delivers activities across three workstreams: Finance Governance and secretariat Coordination. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the small finance sub-team (EL1, APS6 & APS 5) and contribute to financial governance, corporate process improvement, and building divisional capability. The key duties of the position include You'll play a critical role in managing the financial health of the division. The finance sub-team provides: Financial support across the division to deliver the energy performance policy and program agenda of the Energy Efficiency Working Group (EEWG) working directly with the EEWG Chair (SES Band 1). Financial information working with the EEWG Chair and EEWG sub-group Chairs to ensure strategic alignment of activity with broader Energy and Climate Change Ministerial Council (ECMC) goals. Financial and secretariat support to deliver the following energy efficiency reforms under the ECMC Work Plan and the National Energy Transformation Partnership (NETP): The Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) program. The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS). The Trajectory for Low Energy Buildings (Trajectory). The Residential Energy Efficiency Disclosure Initiative. Any other programs referred to EEWG by Energy Senior Officials or Energy Ministers. The APS 5 Finance and Coordination Support provides comprehensive administrative coordination services to deliver on the following responsibilities: triage and support financial coordination requests for ECMC activities, including accounts payable enquiries, procurement, contract closures, stakeholder liaison, and contributing to divisional projects and tasks. deliver financial support as directed to a range of activities aligned with the Energy Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) and Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) program. GEMS is a national framework that regulates the energy efficiency of appliances and equipment: Maintain and update GEMS Administered Monthly Reconciliation and Forecasts. Support monthly GEMS Administered Program meetings and track action items. Assist with internal and audit reporting for GEMS cost recovery. Follow up on meeting outcomes and assigned actions. monitor the EPSD Finance inbox and as needed the Energy Efficiency Secretariat inbox and action or escalate requests from across the division committee coordination, including agendas, papers, minutes, and meeting operations. identifying and implementing process improvements and maintaining SOPs and FAQs. manage sensitive information with confidentiality and uphold APS Values and Code of Conduct. - other duties as directed.
