This role sits within the Retail Credit Risk team, a key part of the Group’s Risk division, responsible for shaping and executing credit risk strategies across the customer lifecycle. The Collections Strategy team plays a critical role in transforming how we engage with customers in arrears, using data, analytics, and AI to drive better outcomes for customers and the bank. With a focus on innovation and operational efficiency, this team is leading the shift from traditional collections to a future-fit, technology-enabled model. You’ll be instrumental in modernising collections strategy, uplifting team capability, and ensuring our credit risk practices remain aligned with our risk appetite and customer-centric values. See yourself in the team This role is pivotal in leading the transformation of collections strategy, overseeing a large team, and driving the adoption of AI and advanced analytics to improve customer engagement and credit outcomes. Your day could look like (but not limited to): Lead the development and execution of innovative collections strategies across retail credit products. Oversee the transformation of the operating model, embedding AI and automation to enhance efficiency and customer experience. Monitor portfolio-level credit risk exposures and ensure alignment with risk appetite and tolerance thresholds. Develop and implement credit risk policies and standards in consultation with business leadership. Provide strategic insights and practical recommendations to senior management on credit risk and collections performance. Lead complex credit risk projects and process redesign initiatives to modernise collections and uplift team capability. Manage and develop a high-performing team of 20 professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Engage with stakeholders, clients, and governance forums to provide guidance, challenge, and thought leadership. Research and apply best practices in credit risk and collections strategy to ensure future readiness. What successful candidates will look like We’re looking for a visionary and strategic leader with deep expertise in credit risk or collections strategy. You’ll be passionate about innovation, confident in leading large teams, and experienced in driving transformation through technology and data. Additional requirements we’re looking for: Proven senior leadership in credit risk or collections strategy, with a strong understanding of risk frameworks and portfolio management. Experience managing large, analytics-heavy teams and leading transformation initiatives. Thought leadership in AI and automation, with the ability to reimagine customer engagement and operational processes. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across senior internal and external audiences.
