Job Role Executive Director Fundraising and Development Lead a high-performing Fundraising and Development team Can be located in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane with some travel required Stroke Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to reducing the impact of stroke across Australia. We work alongside stroke survivors, carers, health professionals, government, and the broader community to prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery. We are seeking a strategic and accomplished Executive Director, Fundraising and Development to lead a high-performing team and drive innovative, sustainable fundraising initiatives. In this pivotal executive role, you will lead a diverse team of professionals to shape and deliver fundraising and development strategies that directly support our vital mission and long-term impact. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll oversee all aspects of fundraising, donor stewardship, strategic corporate partnerships and business development while playing a significant role in shaping organisational strategy and growth. The ideal candidate brings 10-15 years of senior fundraising and development leadership experience, exceptional relationship management skills, strong financial acumen, data driven decision making, attention to detail, and a proven track record of growing diverse fundraising programs. Key responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising and development strategy aligned with Stroke Foundation's strategic plan, translating this into clear operational goals for the team. Financial Management: Lead the development and management of annual fundraising budgets, establish KPIs and reporting frameworks, and ensure optimal return on investment across all fundraising channels. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the Fundraising and Development team, building team capability and creating a positive, high-performance culture. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic trusts, while developing comprehensive donor stewardship programs. Executive Leadership: Actively contribute to the Executive team, provide strategic advice to colleagues, and participate in organisational governance, operations, and risk management. Board Engagement: Serve as primary liaison to the Philanthropy Committee of the Board, support Board members in fundraising responsibilities, and prepare reports for Board meetings. Revenue Growth: Develop and implement strategies to grow, diversify, and strengthen revenue streams, with a focus on evaluation and continuous improvement. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other divisions to strengthen the organisation's profile, effectively communicate impact and funding needs and understand program needs Organisational Representation: Represent Stroke Foundation at public events, in media, and professional forums to advance organisational goals. Risk Management: Identify and manage key fundraising and development risks in accordance with the Stroke Foundation Risk and Management Framework. About You You are a values-driven senior leader with 10–15 years of fundraising and development leadership experience. You have: A proven record in growing diverse fundraising programs Outstanding stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills Strong financial and strategic planning acumen Experience leading high-performing teams A data-informed approach to fundraising innovation and decision-making The ability to influence at executive and board levels You may be based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane. Some travel is required, with our national office in Melbourne and key events held interstate. Qualifications Undergraduate qualifications in business, finance, marketing, fundraising, development -related field (essential) Post graduate qualifications in business, communications, marketing, or related field (highly desirable) Membership of FIA / PFRA Please see below Position Description for further information and requirements for this role.
