The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking 3 x Escorts Coordinator's to provide a critical role within Sentence Management Operations. About the Business Unit Sentence Management Operations is responsible for identifying prisoners' needs and matching them to correctional resources with the objective of placing and managing people in custody appropriately. It is a process of balancing security, management and needs of those in our custody, the community need for protection and efficient and effective operation of the correctional system. The Sentence Management Division is responsible for guiding the journey of people in custody across the period of their sentence. About the Role The role of Escorts Coordinator is to plan and coordinate prisoner movements throughout Victoria and to liaise with the various prison managers and other prisoner transport stakeholders, including Sentence Management Operations, Major Offenders Unit, Sentence Calculation and Warrant Administration and CV medical staff, to optimise the utilisation of prison beds across the system. The role will assist senior managers in Sentence Management Operations to ensure that people in custody are transferred to their classified locations in an appropriate manner, enabling them to engage in appropriate programs and services. The Escorts Team's operating hours are between 7am and 5pm and will require staff to be available on a rotating start/finish schedule. Some of your duties will include: Coordinate the scheduling of prisoner movements through the Victorian prison system to facilitate court appearances, psychiatric appointments, medical needs, and movement of those in custody for management and classification reasons subject to safety and security considerations, operational policy, and accommodation availability. Manage prisoner movements based on Corrections Victoria policy and priorities, particularly noting court appearance requirements, medical needs and sentence management considerations, including system vacancy management. Maintain data on prisoner transport, conduct analysis, prepare reports and provide briefings and recommendations in order to drive organisational service delivery and planning, particularly in relation to front-end prison vacancies. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Sound knowledge and understanding of Corrections Victoria's operations, legislation and regulations, and policies and procedures within the criminal justice system in order to apply this in an operational environment. Strong aptitude in the use of information management systems, (preferably Prisoner Information Management System) to collate data on the movement of prisoners, update databases and identify system trends and blockages.
