This role is based in Jerrabomberra on the border of NSW/ACT approx. 30 mins from Canberra CBD ROLE PURPOSE The Enzyme Production Scientist will be responsible for performing and optimising the fermentation process in microbial or other biological systems and downstream processing to obtain enzymes for use in Samsara's production line. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient, reproducible, and scalable enzyme production that supports innovation and delivery across Samsara. RESPONSIBILITIES: Fermentation & Enzyme Production Participating efforts in r esearching and developing bioproduction methods. Support all stages of enzyme production, from lab-scale fermentation through to pilot-scale activities. Produce enzyme batches for internal testing and help troubleshoot process issues to improve yield and consistency. Process Documentation & Compliance Develop and maintain accurate batch records, fermentation protocols, media formulations, and SOPs. E nsure documentation meets internal quality and safety standards and supports traceability and reproducibility. Support production tracking using dashboards and KPIs to monitor progress, quality, and capacity. Operational Support at CIH Facility Work collaboratively with the bio production team to commission and maintain bioprocessing equipment. Assist in scaling up enzyme production to meet R&D and production demands. Ensure equipment is properly cleaned , maintained , and calibrated in accordance with schedule and protocols. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure all work adheres to WHS protocols and contribute to a culture of safety and compliance. Participate in safety audits, equipment inspections, and risk assessments as . Reporting & Communication Document results, maintain laboratory notebooks, and prepare summaries and reports. Communicate progress, challenges, and results clearly to project teams and managers. Laboratory Upkeep & Administration Support general lab maintenance including waste disposal, equipment cleaning, preparation and pack-down. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: A Degree with subsequent relevant experience in Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Molecular Biology or equivalent combinations of relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated experience in providing highly specialised technical services, and in the operation and maintenance of complex protein chemistry laboratory/facility equipment, including the installation, diagnostics and repair of a broad range of equipment following established procedures. A strong understanding of WHS and regulatory requirements. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and concisely, orally and in writing , to work independently with limited supervision and harmoniously in a team environment with a diverse range of people. Strong information technology and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to keep accurate records and prioritise tasks, exercising sound judgement to meet tight timelines. A demonstrated general knowledge and understanding of equal opportunity principles as they relate to employment.
