Job Title: Driver and Yard Person Reports To: Logistics Coordinator Location: Barham (some project time may be required) Employment Type: Full-time or Casual Position Overview The Driver and Yard Person is responsible for the safe transport, delivery, and collection of plant, equipment, and tools, as well as maintaining an organised and efficient yard. This dual-role position supports site operations through reliable transport services and effective yard management. Key Responsibilities Driving Duties Operate company vehicles to deliver or collect materials, tools, and equipment. Ensure all transport activities are completed in a timely and safe manner. Maintain NHVR logbook and compliance. Conduct daily pre-start checks and report any vehicle faults or maintenance issues. Complete delivery and pickup documentation accurately. Comply with all road transport laws and company policies. Yard Duties Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised yard. Assist with the loading/unloading and storage of materials and equipment. Conduct regular stocktakes and maintain accurate yard inventory records. Perform basic maintenance and inspections of yard tools and equipment. General mechanical and labouring duties as required. Qualifications & Experience Valid HC Drivers Licence Forklift licence (desirable) Construction Induction White Card (mandatory) Previous experience in a similar driver or yard hand role Sound knowledge of load restraint and manual handling Basic mechanical aptitude (desirable) Basic computer skills Skills & Attributes Strong work ethic and reliability Ability to use software or willingness to learn Happy to learn and open to feedback Physically fit and capable of manual work Strong attention to detail and time management Ability to report in an effective and timely manner Ability to work independently and within a team Safety-focused mindset and understanding of WHS procedures Performance Indicators On-time delivery and collection rate Yard cleanliness and organisation Adherence to safety procedures Vehicle and equipment maintenance logs and pre-starts
