The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred. NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities. Working with NOPSEMA provides an opportunity to make a real difference to people working in Australia's offshore oil and gas and energy industry. NOPSEMA is currently seeking applications from senior industry professionals with extensive experience in offshore safety and environmental management in an oil and gas industry discipline or operations of a regulatory organisation and / or major hazard industry to fill current vacant and future ongoing (permanent) and non-ongoing (fixed-term) management roles in its Regulatory Operations and Strategic Regulation & Improvement Divisions. The key duties of the position include As an experienced manager, you will be responsible for managing a functional team of technical experts to ensure safety and health, well integrity, structural integrity and environmental matters meet legislative requirements, having regard to functions and activity lifecycle. These management roles form part of a broader divisional leadership team and report directly either to a functional Executive Director or Deputy Chief Executive Officer. The key responsibilities of these roles encompass: leading and managing ongoing regulatory operations in a functional team and/or providing authoritative and strategic advice on environmental science, environmental and safety risk management, management systems, operations, safety (including structural, process and corrosion safety, and human factors), well integrity and well operations, decommissioning and carbon capture and storage. working with the relevant Executive Director and/or Deputy CEO to plan, secure, retain and allocate resources. continuously improving effectiveness and efficiency, working collaboratively within and across divisions to support initiatives. maintaining oversight of the use of regulatory powers.
