Join our team as a Director Pathway Support! This key ongoing role within the Case Management branch offers flexibility and can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth. About the opportunity Reporting to the Executive Director Case Management, the Director Pathway Support plays a critical role in supporting the management of applications for review during the case management phase, including working with the Tribunal's senior leadership and other operational directors to deliver on the Tribunal's statutory and other objectives. In consultation with the Registrar Leads, the Director Pathway Support oversees the delivery of a range of case management strategies and initiatives, including the Tribunal's caseload strategy and caseload priority framework, and the timely progression of cases to finalisation or readiness for allocation to a member for hearing. The Pathway Support function sits in the Case Management branch and consists of two sections, each led by a Director responsible for the management of cases and staff in various locations. The two Directors work closely to deliver the Tribunal's Pathway Support functions. The section is comprised of two teams, each led by an EL1 Assistant Director with responsibility for two APS6 team leaders each. The key duties of the position include Innovation and Change: Identify innovative solutions and lead the implementation of new or changed ways of working and case management practices to enhance the Tribunal's capacity for providing high quality and accessible services to users. Foster a culture of embracing change and continuous improvement. Leadership and Management: Manage geographically dispersed teams in accordance with APS Values and Code of Conduct, participative management practices, WHS obligations and workplace diversity principles. Contribute to the development of Tribunal objectives and provide strategic leadership for Pathway Support operations, including planning processes and effective management of resources and budget. Develop, coach and mentor staff, manage performance and identify training needs to maintain a high level of skill and technical knowledge. Model the Tribunal's values and encourage a collaborative and constructive culture. Service Delivery : Lead the delivery of administrative support functions, ensuring consistent, accessible, timely and high-quality services to external and internal users. Shape and deliver effective service delivery strategies consistent with the needs of users and the Tribunal's statutory and other objectives. Regularly evaluate and adjust strategies. Contribute to the management and resolution of complex cases and issues. Maintain knowledge of best practice, including trauma-informed practices, in providing services to people with disability and vulnerable people. Strategic and Operational Advice : Provide high-level strategic advice to senior management, and day-to-day operational advice and guidance to colleagues on administrative support matters. Collaborate with the Director Applications and Early Case Assessment, Registrar Leads and Director National Listings to ensure an integrated approach to the planning and delivery of administrative support functions, aligned with the Tribunal's strategic priorities. Anticipate, identify and actively manage risks, escalating as appropriate. Stakeholder Management : Build and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the achievement of the Tribunal's statutory objectives and to facilitate the work of the Case Management branch. Represent the Tribunal in engagement with external stakeholders and in external forums. About you: The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record in service delivery and in developing and maintaining productive relationships with senior stakeholders. You will have a detailed understanding of the Tribunal's legislative and policy context and demonstrated experience in working in a challenging and high pressure environment with competing priorities. To be successful you will have:- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, cultivate a culture of collaboration, and model standards of behaviour consistent with APS Values, APS Employment Principles and APS Code of Conduct. Demonstrated ability to manage and implement change, identify opportunities for improvement, and to promote a positive approach to dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity. Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly, make persuasive recommendations, and adapt to the needs of different audiences. The ability to think strategically, exercise judgement, and ensure alignment of section activities with organisational priorities. Proven capacity to deliver results, successfully lead or deliver complex projects, develop creative solutions, and manage risks appropriately. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, work collaboratively to achieve outcomes, and negotiate successfully.
