As the Director, Staff and Student Demand at the Department of Education, you will provide strategic leadership to the newly created Staff and Student Demand team, within the Market Analysis and Data Branch. The team consists of skilled data analysts responsible for compiling, analysing and reporting on complex administrative data relating to the higher education sector. The Market Analysis and Data Branch within the Higher Education, Research and International Group at the Department of Education plays a critical role in compiling and reporting on higher education and international student data. The team has primary responsibility for Higher Education Staff data and Undergraduate Applications and Offers data. The team also plays an essential role in assisting with the analysis of Higher Education Student data. This data plays an important role in higher education policy development and there is keen interest in the data more broadly. As the leader of this team, you will contribute to the strategic development of the data collections and identify innovative analytical solutions to assist the department derive new insights from these valuable data. The key duties of the position include Under broad direction, in this role, your responsibilities will include the following: Leading a team of technical analytical staff who compile and report on annual Higher Education Staff data and Undergraduate Applications and Offers data, including undertaking quality assurance of data Overseeing the reporting on Tertiary Attainment data sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics Overseeing the analysis and interpretation of complex data to inform policy and preparation of responses to requests for information from a range of internal and external stakeholders, as well as routine supply of data to a range of end users. Ensuring appropriate governance of data, including managing privacy risks, data custodianship functions, and ensuring appropriate documentation of code and other critical business processes Providing strategic advice on improvements to data collections, reports and systems, and overseeing the implementation and delivery of this work Engagement with data suppliers, including higher education institutions, Tertiary Admission Centres and end users of data Working closely with other sections in the branch and division to support the branch's overall work program.
