About the role We’re looking for a talented Data Modeller/Engineer to join our Digital Services division. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in transforming data into business value by designing and maintaining high-quality data models that support analytics, reporting, and strategic decision-making. You’ll work across both project and business-as-usual initiatives, contributing to the development of our Lakehouse architecture and ensuring our data is structured, accurate, and accessible. This is a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with data owners, architects, and analysts to shape the future of data at Essential Energy. Key responsibilities include: Define, develop, and maintain data analytics solutions using methodologies like Inmon, 3NF, and Kimball. Ensure data pipelines and data stores are efficient, organised, and reliable. Work with data owners and business units to define and validate report requirements. Conduct data profiling, analysis, and mapping to support business requirements. Analyse user requirements to design functional specifications. Maintain Data Models: Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models, data mappings, and transformations. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Lakehouse’s Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers. Establish and maintain security controls, knowledge management, and risk management within the business. This is a permanent opportunity. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint with Port Macquarie being the desired location. About You You’re a strategic thinker with a passion for data and a knack for turning complex requirements into elegant data solutions. You bring a mix of technical expertise and strong communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with stakeholders across the business. In addition to this you will have: Experience in data architecture, modelling, and governance Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Data Platform, especially Azure Databricks Knowledge of ER Studio, Erwin, or similar tools Understanding of Star Schema and metadata management Experience translating business requirements into physical data models Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills Required Qualifications Advanced Diploma in Information Technology (Advanced Data Management) or equivalent experience Why Essential Energy We offer competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience and 16% superannuation.
