School of Communication and Arts Two part-time, fixed-term positions for up to 3 years at Academic Level A or B Base salary will be in the range $82,057 - $136,048 (Level A) or $112,572 – 133,381 (Level B) 17% Superannuation Based at our St Lucia location About This Opportunity The School of Communication and Arts is seeking to appoint two outstanding individuals to join our team as Associate Lecturer (Level A) or Lecturer (Level B) in Communications. These part-time, fixed-term positions offer exciting opportunities to contribute to our dynamic teaching and research environment: Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Communications (Digital Media) – Part-time (70%), fixed-term for up to 3 years Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Communications – Part-time (50%), fixed-term for up to 2 years We particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise in any one or more of the following: media design; digital media platforms; intercultural communication; social media communication; communication research methods; strategic communications; and/or critical perspectives on digital media, power and society. The successful candidate will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, conduct high-quality scholarship, foster engagement with external stakeholders and partners, and contribute to the collegial environment of the School and University. Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counseling, and adhere to university teaching rules. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise student projects, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits. Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. About You Completion of a PhD or equivalent in Communications, Media Studies or a closely related field An emerging profile (Level A) or growing profile (Level B) in teaching with evidence of high-quality University teaching in Communications across a variety of settings with course coordination responsibilities. Ability to coordinate courses and contribute to the development and innovation of curricula and course material. An emerging record of supervision of student projects. Experience in internal service roles and an emerging profile (Level A) or growing profile (Level B) of professional expertise that complements the School. In addition to the above, for appointment at Level B: Ability to develop curricula and design effective learning materials and assessment tasks Evidence of ability to supervise student projects to successful completion Active contributions to external service activities.
