The Assistant Director, Communications provides high-level support with internal and external communications activities to the National Mental Health Commission (the Commission) team. Reporting to the Director of the Office of the CEO and working closely with the Commission's Executive team, the Assistant Director plays a leading role in developing, implementing and advising on the Commission's internal and external communications approach. The key duties of the position include Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of the Commission's internal and external communication strategies. Providing high-level strategic communication advice to the Commission Executive and staff team on internal and external communication. Coordinating the development and delivery of content for the Commission's digital communication channels (including newsletters, social media and the Commission's website) and for internal communication with the staff team. Serving as a brand expert for the Commission, ensuring that brand guidelines are adhered to and managed. In collaboration with the Department of Health, coordinating the Commission's engagement with the media, including advising on opportunities, preparing speaking points and drafting media releases. Coordinating the Commission's involvement in speaking engagements, including advising on opportunities, managing logistical arrangements and preparing speaker briefs. Building and maintaining effective relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including other teams within the Commission and the National Suicide Prevention Office, the broader communications functions within the Department of Health, and external government and non-government stakeholders. Supporting the Director of the Office of the CEO with team management, work planning and achievement of performance outcomes.
