The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system. As the single independent regulator of Australian Government aged care services, we offer a variety of interesting and challenging jobs across most capital cities. It is an exciting time to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, with major reforms underway to improve aged care in Australia. You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services. As a Section of the Regulatory Strategy and Policy Group, the Regulatory Strategy Section (the Section) supports the Commission to deliver its functions and achieve its goal of being a best practice regulator by leading and influencing the development of regulatory and aged care program reform, including legislative change and policy development. Improving the quality and safety of care and service delivery and upholding the rights of older people receiving care is at the centre of our regulatory practice. Our approach to understanding effective regulation is evidence and risk-based, strategic, coordinated and in line with best practice. To achieve good outcomes, we leverage strong external relationships with key partners, in particular the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, the Department of Social Services, the National Disability Insurance Agency, and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Workflow in the Section is dynamic and requires a flexible approach to adapt to rapidly changing priorities. Support delivery of the Commission's work by negotiating, consulting on and developing strategic policy, and building effective partnerships with other regulators and across the aged care sector. The role involves translating legislation, government reforms and evaluation outcomes into policy and supports decision making that is evidence-based, responsive and aligned with the needs of regulatory staff and stakeholders. The key duties of the position include Support Assistant Directors in a multifaceted workload which may include developing policy, legislative and regulatory reform, collaborative projects, developing and managing resource bids for new policy proposals, and interpreting, managing and developing cost and resource models. Directly contributing to the research and drafting of high-level communications, including briefing material on complex legal, policy and procedural topics for a range of audiences. Undertake analysis (as required) to support the evidence base for Commission's programs. Engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support the Commission's business and vision. Contribute to the Section's strategic direction and continuous improvement activities. Work effectively and flexibly as a team member to accomplish organisational goals in a virtual environment in a team that works in office locations across Australia. Represent the Commission with credibility and professionalism. Key capabilities (Selection Criteria) To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following: Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate information coherently, concisely and influentially to a diverse audience. Effective organisational and time management skills to plan and deliver identified priorities, including the ability to work effectively without direct supervision while maintaining high standards and accuracy. The ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain positive working relationships. High-level proficiency in systems such as Microsoft e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams or similar. Sound research, problem solving, and analytical skills with the ability to understand legislation and whole of Government policy, including practical implications for the Commission. Strategic experience gained from a similar multi-disciplinary organisation.
