The Role We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, detailed and organised Accountant to join our dynamic team at Austin Group! Based at our Support Office in Malvern and reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the finance function for our womenswear brands - Cable and Perri Cutten. Other responsibilities will include but not limited to: Month-End Closure: Oversee the month-end closing process for the Cable and Perri Cutten retail brands, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciledBalance Sheet Reconciliation: Manage and ensure the accuracy of Balance Sheet reconciliations for both Cable and Perri Cutten retail brandsTax Compliance: Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), Payroll Tax, and Workers Compensation compliance for Australia (AUS)Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the annual budget process, collaborating with key stakeholders to draft accurate financial forecasts for both brandsPayroll Journal: Post and maintain the fortnightly payroll journal for the employment entity, ensuring accurate processingLeave Provision Adjustments: Annual Leave and Long Service Leave provision postingTax & Accounting Queries: Assist the finance manager with queries from external tax advisors and other financial inquiries related to compliance or reportingIncentive Calculations: Calculate and process bonus incentives for retail staff, ensuring they align with company policiesKPI reporting: quarterly retail staff KPI ReportingABS Surveys: Complete and submit quarterly Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) surveys in compliance with regulatory requirementsSupplier Management: Maintain and set up suppliers in the accounting system, ensuring all records are up to dateAd-Hoc Support: Assist the Assistant Accountant with various tasks and projects as required, supporting the overall accounting team Our ideal candidate will have: Relevant tertiary or related qualifications2 -3 years’ experience in a similar rolePreferred CA / CPA (or in the process of completing)Accountancy experience, preferably in the retail or services environmentProficiency in reconciling balance sheets, ensuring accuracy in all financial reports.Knowledge of general month end accounting tasks, including but not limited to accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.Intermediate Excel skillsStrong organisational skills and ability to meet schedules and timeframesExcellent interpersonal skills and a team playerA detailed and focused approach to workDeveloped analytical, numerical skills and practical application thereofHighly developed written and verbal skillsAccurate and speedy data entry skillsStrong attention to detailStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.A positive and proactive ‘can do’ attitude We provide: A competitive remuneration packageFree onsite parkingGenerous product allowance50% clothing discount off all of our brands (GAZMAN, Perri Cutten, Cable)A tailored induction program to ensure you have the best introduction to the businessThe opportunity to build your career with a successful, established and trusted Australian brandFantastic work/life balanceA friendly, motivating and rewarding team environment, where achievements are recognisedA highly supportive management teamOpportunities to attend fantastic social events throughout the year About us Austin Group is an established Australian owned and family run fashion retailer and wholesaler that includes some of Australia’s most iconic menswear and womenswear brands.
