About our team The ABF Risk and Assurance Section sits in Workforce Operational Policy and Practices Branch of the Australian Border Force. The section works closely with the ABF Executive to develop and implement structured and transparent risk management processes, mitigation strategies, risk governance and assurance and for developing and implementing compliance assurance measures. The section's primary objective is to strengthen risk management practices by driving the implementation of a robust, objective, consistent operational risk management framework which guides effective operational decision making and which promotes a positive, proactive risk management culture within the ABF. The section also develops and manages the ABF Compliance Assurance Program that provides second line of assurance that the relevant legislation, policy and procedures are followed in the execution of functions and appropriate risk management controls are in place and working effectively. The key duties of the position include Duties and responsibilities Risk Stream Advising on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies. Facilitating risk workshops and drafting Risk Management Plans. Liaising with control owners to develop performance metrics. Preparing reports and presentations for senior governance forums. Ideal for those with a Cert IV or above in Risk Management or equivalent experience. Compliance Assurance Stream Reviewing and supporting assurance activities across the ABF. Monitoring audit outcomes and tracking recommendations. Supporting continuous improvement of compliance frameworks. Managing contracts and stakeholder engagements with assurance providers. Suitable for professionals with auditing, compliance, or policy backgrounds. Program Analytics & Reporting Stream Designing and maintaining executive-level reports and dashboards. Analysing data to identify themes, trends, and emerging risks. Contributing to audit mapping and performance reporting across the ABF. Ideal for candidates with data analytics experience and experience in Excel, Power BI, Tableau or similar tools.
