About us: The Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU) is a dedicated 12-bed short stay unit designed to streamline the assessment, planning, and management of patients who require multidisciplinary input and timely medical intervention. The unit serves as an intermediary care setting between the Emergency Department (ED) and Inpatient Wards, supporting efficient decision-making and optimised patient flow. The MAPU at Rockhampton Hospital aims to improve patient flow by reducing the burden of the flux of medical admissions on the ED, reduce length of stay through efficient and timely access to multidisciplinary care, optimise the quality of care and patient outcomes, as well as promoting the efficient use of resources. About the role: The Undergraduate Student in Nursing (USIN) is a member of the Central Queensland healthcare team in the provision of the patient's personal and clinical care needs under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The USIN has a key role in supporting nursing colleagues to deliver safe quality care and smooth running of the department. About you: * The incumbent will be required to be an Undergraduate Student in Nursing. * You will undertake or will have completed, on a full-time basis, the second semester of the second year of a pre-registration university program or undertake the fourth semester of a second year post graduate pre-registration university program in a nursing qualification approved by the NMBA.
