We are seeking highly motivated individuals with the relevant skills, experience and qualifications to register their interest for roles in the fields of Law, Social Work and Health and Allied Health Professionals. We may use this register to temporarily fill professional roles across a range of levels from APS4 to Executive Level 2. The key duties of the position include Legal Roles - APS4 to EL2 Services Australia's responsibilities include Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services, as well as whole of government services such as myGov. Our agency delivers help to Australians in times of need from natural disasters and delivers a range of other government services, such as the Australian Immunisation Register. As a custodian of a significant amount of personal information, ensuring privacy protections are built into how we deliver services is key. Our key practice areas include but are not limited to: Privacy - Advice on discharging the agency's privacy obligations in its current and transformational operations Freedom of information - Advice on complex and significant FOI matters and representing the agency on merits review of agency decisions Administrative law advice and litigation - Advice on meeting the agency's obligations under social security, child support and health program legislation, and representing the agency and policy departments on merits or judicial review of agency decisions Commercial - Contracting and procurement matters, general advice on IP/branding, agency agreements and general procurement Property - Commercial property disputes and advice Technology - ICT and technology contracting and procurement activities Employment law and litigation - Legal services on all people management issues, workplace relations disputes, and human rights disputes by both employees and agency customers Roles available may include: Assistant Paralegal (APS4), Paralegal (APS5), Graduate Lawyer (APS5), Lawyer (APS6), Senior Government Lawyer (EL1), Principal Government Lawyer (EL2), and Deputy General Counsel (EL2). Social Workers - APS5 to APS6 Social workers provide professional assessments and supports, counselling and interventions to customers who have multiple and complex needs, are in crisis or who are affected by natural disasters and emergencies. Social workers also work with Service Officers and the community to enable them to better support vulnerable people through case consultation, training and professional advice. Social workers are located nationally in face-to face and telephony channels to ensure a social work service is accessible for all people in Australia, regardless of geographical location. The work is often challenging but is also rewarding and will suit candidates who are resilient and embrace innovation and change. You will be helping a diverse range of customers at key moments in their lives by listening, advocating and connecting them to payments and services. Health and Allied Health Professional - Assessor - APS6 Assessors are health and allied health professionals who work with Services Australia customers. This is a customer-focused role, with assessors using their professional knowledge and skills to assess people with medical, psychological or social barriers to employment. Assessments are conducted by telephone, video chat and face to face. Assessors review people's capacity to work, assess medical eligibility for Services Australia payments, and refer people to employment service programs. Assessors can be exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, registered nurses, rehabilitation counsellors or social workers.
