The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred. NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities. Working with NOPSEMA provides an opportunity to make a real difference to people working in Australia's offshore energy industry. NOPSEMA maintains a temporary employment register of interested applicants to fill Non-ongoing (fixed term) roles for periods of up to 12 months within its Regulatory Operations and Strategic Regulation and Improvement Divisions. NOPSEMA may use the register to fill Non-Ongoing (fixed term), full-time, part-time or casual positions in its Perth or Melbourne locations depending on business requirements in the following areas: Assessment of greenhouse gas storage activities, including carbon capture and storage (CCS). Benthic ecology. Environmental impact assessment for decommissioning offshore infrastructure. Ecotoxicology. Fish ecology with an understanding of commercial fisheries. Marine environmental impact assessment or marine environmental quality. Marine noise impact assessment. Monitoring of and assessment of impacts from greenhouse gas emissions (petroleum). The key duties of the position include Responsibilities may include: Assessment of Environment Plans, Offshore Project Proposals and advising on environmental impact assessment documents under the EPBC Act. Inspect offshore petroleum activities and support NOPSEMA's investigations of accidents, incidents and complaints. Undertake enforcement actions relating to implementation of environmental monitoring and management commitments within Environment Plans and the petroleum and offshore energy legislation.
