Position will start 23 January 2026 St Columba Anglican School Port Macquarie is a co-educational Early Learning Centre to Year 12 campus set on 37 picturesque acres in the heart of Port Macquarie's Education Precinct. About the Role As a Teacher Assistant, you will work five days a week under the direction of the Team Leader Learning Support (Primary) to support students with diverse learning needs. You will contribute to creating a caring, inclusive, and supportive environment, ensuring students are able to engage meaningfully in their learning and school experience. This role plays a vital part in achieving positive outcomes through in-class support, implementation of individual and small group programs, classroom organisation, and behavioural guidance. Responsibilities Depending on your placement within Primary, your role may include: Supporting teaching and learning activities in the classroom Assisting students with special needs and/or disabilities with learning and personal care Observing and monitoring student performance and behaviours Supporting classroom organisation including preparing materials and collecting homework Participating in excursions, playground duties, and sporting or school events Collaborating with teaching and support staff to implement individual learning plans Attending support meetings and relevant professional development Essential Qualifications and Experience Certificate III or IV in Education Support, Learning Support, or equivalent (VET qualification) Previous experience in a Primary Learning Support/Teacher Assistant role A genuine passion for supporting young people’s learning and wellbeing Strong emotional resilience and conflict management skills Ability to work proactively and independently within a team setting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Sound organisational and time-management abilities Mandatory Requirements Current Working with Children Check (NSW) First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) Participation in Child Protection and WHS training aligned to School policy Why Join St Columba Anglican School?
