Support building a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable University Full-Time, continuing position; package $115K – 128K negotiable Macquarie University – Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde Macquarie University is seeking a proactive and highly motivated Sustainability Officer to join our sustainability team within the Property Portfolio which will support the development and implementation of initiatives that enhance the University’s environmental performance and contribute to a more sustainable campus. About the Role As a member of the Strategy and Planning group within the Property Office, you will work alongside teams responsible for planning, design, space management and sustainability strategy, collaborating widely across the University with external partners. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability , you will assist in monitoring resource use, supporting policy implementation, coordinating key sustainability programs, managing data, and contributing to statutory and sector reporting requirements, and sustainability rankings. Key Responsibilities Support the development, implementation and communication of sustainability initiatives, policies and practices across the University. Monitor and analyse resource use (energy, water, waste, emissions, transport), maintain relevant databases, and coordinate required statutory and sector reporting including NGER and TEFMA. Coordinate and oversee sustainability programs such as furniture re-use and green impact programs, and documentation of sustainable practice methodologies. Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners and student groups to support sustainability activities and awareness initiatives. Provide benchmarking support, contribute to research and analysis and identify opportunities to improve sustainability performance and practices. About You You are an experienced professional who is passionate about environmental performance, data driven sustainability, and making a tangible impact in a vibrant university environment. In addition, you will have (Selection Criteria): Qualification or equivalent experience in sustainability, architecture, engineering, science or a related field with understanding of local and global sustainability practices. Ability to analyse, manage and report sustainability data with strong attention to details and sound time management skills. Strong written and verbal communications skills with experience providing advice on sustainability policies, procedures and practices. Demonstrated ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively across diverse groups. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
