Why this role matters The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey. About the role As a Specialist Family Violence Children’s Practitioner, this is your opportunity to provide child- and young-people-focussed case management to children under 18 within TSA’s Supported Accommodation, including liaising with the child’s NDIS, education, health, or other relevant service supports. Guided by the Family Violence Therapeutic Lead, you will deliver high-quality, child-focussed and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions and group work to infants, children and their caregivers accessing specialist family violence case management and supported accommodation. Reporting to the Family Violence Therapeutic Lead and Supported Accommodation- Long Term refuge Team Leader, this part-time role offers 26.6 hours and is fixed-term contracted until June 2027, located in Coburg North, VIC. How you will make an impact Deliver developmentally appropriate therapeutic support for children and young people, including individual, group and whole-family interventions with guidance from the Family Violence Therapeutic Lead. Build parent and child connection by supporting parents through capacity-building, group facilitation and referrals that strengthen therapeutic and developmental outcomes. Provide specialist family violence case management for children, young people and their families, including risk assessment, safety planning and child-centred case plans. Work collaboratively with practitioners, networks and external services to ensure coordinated support while advocating for children as victim survivors in their own right. Maintain accurate client records, share risk concerns promptly with the Team Leader and support staff with child-focused education and practice guidance. What you will bring A Tertiary qualification in social work, welfare (social sciences), mental health, community development or related field Qualifications must align with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Workers (Recommendation 209) Experience in service delivery with children and families who have experienced trauma and/or family violence Strong history of working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs Demonstrated experience and skills in intake, case management and crisis responses Demonstrated experience in the provision of trauma-informed assessment and therapeutic intervention, and a strong understanding of developmental impacts of trauma on children and young people A current VIC Drivers Licence and employee Working with Children’s Check What we offer The Salvos offer eligible employee's a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including: Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.
