Working with high profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others. With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage. This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Sydney CBD. There are approximately 380 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 500 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally. About the role The company is seeking a Software Engineer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, Australia. The primary focus of the role is to develop and maintain DroneShield's RFAI Detection Capability, working closely with ML/AI, Data Science, RF and infrastructure teams to innovate and enhance DroneShield's world leading Anti-Drone technology. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Collaborate with various engineering teams to integrate algorithms into production software for evaluation and tuning. Design and implement software automation for algorithm evaluation pipelines. Conduct unit testing to ensure software quality and reliability. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines. Design and develop scalable systems using software design patterns. Advance the development of software architecture design processes within the team. Ensure software is designed for reliability, and performance on resource-constrained targets. Develop and maintain simulation software used to assist algorithm development. Work in a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with engineers from non-software / data science backgrounds. Qualifications, Experience and Skills Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. 3 years of software development experience in Python Ability to turn complex algorithms and mathematical models into high-performance software, operating on sensor data. Experience with NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit libraries. DevOps experience, including CI/CD, automated testing, and system monitoring Experience with development tools including Git, Jira, Confluence, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Poetry, Pyenv Familiarity with developing under Linux (embedded Linux would be advantageous) Working knowledge of modern architectural patterns and software design patterns The following would also be highly desirable: * Experience with concurrent computing and code optimization Strong proficiency with Docker Experience with ML, RF, FPGA, and DSP technologies Note for recruitment agencies: we do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless they were instructed to do so.
