The Senior Systems Analyst is accountable, under minimal supervision, to undertake complex to very complex systems analysis activities and tasks. They will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with ACIC's mission and business objectives. They will have extensive experience and knowledge of business and systems analysis, methods and techniques. The Senior Systems Analyst will have extensive stakeholder engagement experience and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders' expectations and deliver services to achieve outcomes. They will contribute to the development, implementation and review of practices, procedures and policies to support improved business functions within the ACIC. The Senior Systems Analyst will analyse how well ACIC software, hardware and the wider IT system fit the business needs of the ACIC. The key duties of the position include Provide knowledgeable methods and tools including Business Analyst Body of Knowledge (BABOK) processes for requirements elicitation, process modelling and specification. Have the ability to write technical specifications including interface specifications, plus review and update existing system documentation for National Policing Information services. Have working knowledge of XML. Develop systems analysis artefacts in consultation with relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts and communicate results to support business decision making. Examine business problems and determine requirements for an enhanced or new information system. Utilise research skills to analyse and articulate features of a particular business information system domain within accepted practices. Build and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and actively participate in team work / group activities to understand and gauge their expectations and concerns. Provide advice and guidance to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Assess and evaluate the quality of a range of artefacts such as business requirements, system specifications and user documentation to ensure products are fit for purpose and deliver quality outcomes. Ensure specific system security requirements are factored into analysis artefacts and aligned with the Australian Government Information Security Manual and Protective Security Policy Framework. Contributing to improvements in information systems and information management practices and procedures.
