Full-time, fixed-term until April 2029 Opportunity to join a nationally recognised research environment where you’ll lead impactful projects, strengthen meaningful collaborations, and shape the future of climate and health-related research Base Salary $156,103 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney has been given a tremendous opportunity to host the Global Lancet Countdown Working Group 1 – Health Hazards, Exposures, and Impact and we are seeking a Senior Research Fellow to lead this working group. This role requires a highly skilled research fellow to lead the identification, development, and evaluation of indicators critical to this Working Group. The Working Group sits within the Heat and Health Research Centre in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney, Your key responsibilities will be to: Analytical, organised, and collaborative person with expert knowledge related to the subject matter of the Working Group. Disseminate research findings through publications, conferences, keynote presentations, and contribute expert insights to public and professional discussions. Develop collaborative, translational research partnerships that enhance impact across the Working Group. Provide guidance and mentorship to other members of the Working Group to support a high-performing workplace culture. Contribute to Global Lancet Countdown governance through active participation in committees, academic boards, and strategic initiatives, which may include international travel. Engage with industry, community, and various partners to strengthen knowledge transfer, and enhance research impact. About you PhD in a relevant field. Demonstrated expertise in public health, climate change and health, physiology, and environmental health. Recognised at a national level for influential contributions that expand knowledge within the discipline, supported by a strong publication record including work on heat and health. Significant experience conducting original research, leading scholarly activity, and supervising or mentoring others to support their professional and academic development. An established and actively maintained network of academic, industry and professional partners that can be leveraged to enhance the reputation and impact of the School and University. A developing understanding of the strategic issues shaping the higher education sector and the ability to align research, engagement and collaboration activities with University priorities, and also the Global Lancet Countdown Priorities.
