Description Join Downer’s Environment & Sustainability team for ANZ working with the Energy & Utilities group as a Senior Advisor, Environment & Sustainability where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping environmental and sustainable outcomes across Australia. Reporting to the Environment & Sustainability Manager, you’ll provide expert guidance on environmental strategy and compliance, supporting pre-contracts, bids, tenders, and the delivery of major projects. Your work will span diverse sectors including transmission lines, substations, renewables, BESS, telecommunications, water infrastructure, and energy networks. This is a unique opportunity to influence projects at every stage - driving best practice, supporting operational teams, and ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability is embedded in everything we do. You’ll also enjoy variety and exposure across the country, with occasional travel (approx. 1 or 2 days per month) to project sites to conduct inspections, audits and compliance activities. Lead impactful sustainability initiatives across critical infrastructure projects Work across multiple sectors shaping Australia’s energy future Collaborate with a passionate, expert team committed to innovation and excellence Your Responsibilities Lead environment and sustainability input for bids, tenders, and major project design phases. Prepare and implement environmental management plans, risk/opportunity registers, inductions, and training materials. Provide environmental planning support during early project phases and offer technical advice throughout delivery. C Conduct audits, site inspections, and incident investigations to ensure compliance and resolve environmental issues. Liaise with regulators, customers, and internal stakeholders on environmental and sustainability matters. Mentor junior advisors and share knowledge across teams and business units. Influence project managers on effective environmental leadership and represent the company in industry forums. What You Will Bring Education: Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field. Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance requirements, and sustainability best practices Experience in environmental auditing, risk management, and incident investigation (ICAM preferred) Strong experience as an environmental lead for major bids and tenders. Proven ability to build relationships with regulators, clients, and internal stakeholders. Skilled in preparing technical documentation, reports, and training materials.
