About the role As a Senior Engineering Officer – Network Design, you will play a key role in the analysis, design, planning, execution, and technical evaluation of network design projects. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality design work, managing design work packets, and providing technical expertise across a broad range of engineering functions. This role involves mentoring team members, preparing reports and recommendations, and supporting the development of strategies to monitor and enhance system performance. You will also coordinate engineering surveys, prepare cost estimates, and provide high-level technical advice to stakeholders and customers. Experience with PLS CADD and subtransmission design is essential to excel in this position. This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment. About You You are a proactive and flexible engineering professional with a strong background in the energy, electrical, or utilities sector. You thrive in dynamic environments, are well-organised, and can manage complex workloads. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills enable you to deliver technical services professionally and build effective relationships with stakeholders. You bring hands-on experience with PLS CADD and subtransmission design projects, ensuring technical excellence and innovation in your work. About your skills Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities Demonstrated expertise in PLS CADD and subtransmission design Excellent time management, planning, and organisational skills with a high attention to detail Ability to manage and deliver design work packets, including drafting and reviewing designs Skilled in preparing technical reports and recommendations Proficient in computer operations and business systems relevant to engineering Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and train others Ability to recognise and resolve unplanned events and provide timely solutions Experience in managing audits and implementing recommended improvements Required Qualifications Associate Degree of Electrical Engineering (Power/Electrical) or Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering, or demonstrated capability through relevant experience and/or qualifications WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate Current Driver Licence Level 3 Restricted Zone Substation Access Desired experience Extensive experience in a similar engineering role within the Energy/Electrical and/or Utilities Industry Comprehensive knowledge of current design philosophies, procedures, statutory requirements, and electrical safety rules Demonstrated experience in managing technical activities during planned and unplanned events Experience in preparing and presenting complex reports and recommendations Proven ability to manage business unit tasks for self and others, promoting the role and image of the organisation Experience with strategic organisational contingency plans and information systems For further information please contact Matthew Boyling – Manager Mains Design on 0419 846 178.
