As Senior Adviser, Government Relations, you will support ASIC's strategic priorities by fostering strong engagement with parliamentary, departmental and regulatory bodies. The role involves translating complex agency objectives into clear, compelling narratives that build influence, enhance public understanding, and ensure alignment with government expectations - contributing to outcomes that matter to Australia's financial system. Location: All Australian capital cities Salary $152,074 to $168,164 plus 15.4% superannuation Permanent position Applications close at 11:59pm AEDT, Wednesday 26 November 2025 The team ASIC's Strategy and Corporate Affairs Group is responsible for delivering on the Commission and Agency's priorities through communications, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and coordination. The Group adopts a whole-of-ASIC approach to deliver a unified organisational strategy in line with ASIC's vision and builds and leverages strategic stakeholder relationships to drive engagement and effectively communicate ASIC's work. The Government Relations team performs a priority function that is integral to ASIC's strategic engagement with Ministerial and Parliamentary stakeholders, as well as federal departments and other regulators. Its purpose is to build trust and confidence through enhanced engagement that aligns ASIC's strategic priorities with the Statement of Expectations set by Government. The role As Senior Adviser, Government Relations , you will: Lead the development of high-quality submissions, statements, and strategic communications for government stakeholders. Coordinate ASIC-wide messaging and engagement activities, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Prepare and support ASIC's participation in parliamentary committees, meetings, and proactive engagement opportunities. Develop compelling narratives for cross-agency funding proposals and strategic initiatives. Liaise with internal teams and government departments to ensure proposals are accurate, timely, and aligned with policy objectives. About you You're an expert writer and strategic communicator with a deep understanding of government processes and a passion for public policy. With a strong background in communications, government relations, stakeholder engagement or public affairs, you bring at least a decade of experience navigating complex stakeholder environments. You're confident working with senior leaders and subject-matter experts to shape narratives that influence decision-makers and support regulatory outcomes. Your ability to distil complex ideas into clear, persuasive messages sets you apart. You bring sound judgement, political awareness and a sharp eye for detail. Comfortable working across diverse subject matter, you thrive in fast-paced environments, balancing multiple priorities while remaining collaborative, solutions-focused and committed to delivering work that supports ASIC's mission to protect consumers and uphold the integrity of Australia's financial system.
