The key duties of the position include The Role The SCIF Manager / COMSO is a critical leadership role within Training Authority - Maritime Warfare (TA-MW) - Maritime Intelligence and Information Warfare School (MIIWS), responsible for the management, accreditation, and operational assurance of the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). This position ensures compliance with ASD Policy 380 (ASD Instruction 055) and supports the delivery of advanced maritime intelligence and cryptologic training. The role includes management of the TA-MW SCIF compartment access control, coordinate SCIF accreditation compliance including liaison with ASIO T4 and ASD. You will conduct whole of TA-MW code-word compartment Briefs, conduct travel risk assessments, and contribute to policy development aligning TA-MW activities with Defence, ASD, and whole-of-government security frameworks. The role also supports Special Access Program-related training coordination between Advanced Capabilities-Navy and TA-MW. This is a mission critical position requiring discretion, technical expertise, and strategic coordination to maintain national security capabilities and ensure uninterrupted training delivery. About our Team MIIWS delivers foundation to advanced Intelligence, Information Warfare, Cryptology, and Electronic Warfare training to prepare maritime warfighters for contemporary and future ADF and Allied operations. We proudly support Royal New Zealand Navy Intelligence, Information Warfare and Electronic Warfare training, and contribute essential Intelligence and Information Warfare expertise to Surface Warfare training. MIIWS is Navy's primary interface into ADF and other single service Intelligence & Information Warfare training entities, ensuring alignment, collaboration, and coherence across the pillars of Battlespace Awareness, Assured C2 and Integrated Fires & Effects. Our Ideal Candidate You are a highly capable and security-cleared professional with extensive experience in secure facility management and SIGINT handling. You must already hold a current TSPV clearance and have (or previously held) and an approved ASD Organisational Suitability Assessment, and have operated in an accredited SCIF for at least 12 months. You are COMSO-qualified or committed to completing the course promptly. You demonstrate strong leadership, policy acumen, and stakeholder engagement skills. Your ability to manage complex security protocols, deliver code-word briefings, and liaise with intelligence agencies is essential. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and compliance. Your experience in developing and implementing security policy, managing inspections, and coordinating technical countermeasures will be vital to the success of this role.
