The opportunity As a Science Policy Officer, you will contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based science policy initiatives that support national priorities. This role requires strong analytical skills, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate complex scientific information into clear policy advice. Our ideal candidate Our Ideal candidate will have: Independence and Accountability: Can operate under limited direction, exercising sound judgment and initiative. Complexity: Can handle moderately complex to complex tasks requiring interpretation and application of policy. Leadership: Can provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff and contributes to team capability building. Analytical Thinking: Has the ability to synthesise complex scientific data into actionable policy advice. Communication: Has good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences. Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrates experience in building and maintaining productive relationships. Project Management: Has the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within deadlines The key duties of the position include The key responsibilities to be successful in the position are: Research, analyse, and interpret scientific and technical information to inform policy development. Prepare high-quality briefs, reports, and recommendations for senior decision-makers. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights and build collaborative relationships. Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks relevant to science policy.
